Take a Seat & I Will Tell You More

A performer and dabbler in the arts since a young age, Ariel Amara is an explorer of all things expressive. She has been performing and sharing her passion since 2002 and is like a kid in a grown up costume with a rainbow of characters inside her that want to come out and play. She is a multi-faceted performing artist, trained in clown and character from multiple schools, and is a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. Specializing in engaging audience interaction though stilt dance and acrobatics, hoop dance, fire performance and elaborate costuming, Ariel draws her inspiration from many sources.

She has performed circus and facilitated workshops in four countries and has studied a variety of movement and performance disciplines both locally and internationally. She has taught at seven different hoop and juggling festivals nationally and internationally and has performed and taught at some of BC’s largest music festivals such as Shambhala and Bass Coast. What started as a curious obsession with fire dance and object manipulation, quickly became a meandering journey to absorb anything and everything involved in body awareness, movement and play. In her years working and playing within the performing arts, she has also explored choreography, stage management, MC’ing, artist curation and other behinds the scenes rolls, always learning and developing her craft.

She has worked extensively with organizations such as Stillmoon Arts Society and Spark Circus as a performer and teacher, and has attended multiple trainings in Clown at Fantastic Space and Acrobatic Stilting with members of Carpet Bag Brigade. Ariel has attended numerous movement and theatre courses at studios such as Harbour Dance, Katakomben Berlin and Circus West. Over recent years, she has been dipping her toes into contact improvisation, Axis Syllabus and Butoh among other dance forms and is currently engaged in a six month somatic training, a year long professional development program for circus artists and is completing a hoop teacher training with Live Love Hoop UK. She passionately continues to broaden her skills as a facilitator and performer, always super serious about staying curious.

She keeps herself activated and involved with a bustling schedule performing at corporate and private events, city sponsored events, community festivals, children’s festivals, cabarets and theatrical circus productions.

Based on the North American West Coast, Ariel has been playing & performing as a hooper, fire dancer, clown and stilt artist for many years past and for many more to come.
